What exactly is meditation? Meditation is choosing to relax your mind and body in a quiet place as you allow yourself to simply exist in the present moment without any human thought. Through a meditative state you are able to connect with your inner body and most believe higher truths. These truths may come from the stored information within the subsconsious mind, or it is theorized to come from the divine or infinite intelligence. You can see how meditation is like prayer in how one connects to a higher source. Meditation is also quieting the noise of your external reality and ego to refresh, rejuvenate, and reconfigure your mind, body, and soul. Read more
There will come a day when it’s time to tell the truth. Not necessarily to the whole world, but to yourself in the least, and probably to those you have lied. Failing to tell the truth in the present moment puts secrets into your past that will inevitably affect you. Whether you realize it or not, dishonesty impacts your mental, emotional, physical, social, professional, and personal development and wellbeing. Dishonesty invites darkness into every cell of your mind and body. This darkness manifests into emotional and physical pain. If you knew your depression, anxiety, injury, illness, or pain was the result of all the dishonest times you’ve compiled over the years, what would you do? The fact is, and you’ve heard it before, the truth will set you free. The truth will cleanse you of darkness, suffering, and pain. The truth does not always need to be revealed to everyone, or even anyone, but the truth must be acknowledged by you. Read more

I don’t know much about this nonprofit but Play for Change touched my heart with their global collaboration of “Stand By Me” and “Higher Ground“. They say music is universal and after listening to this I can’t help feel the proof. Like they say: What unites us if far greater than what divides us.
What is depression? What has depression become and what it is becoming? Is it having low self-esteem or hopelessness? Is it being sad or tearful? Is it losing interest in yourself or your life? Is it fatigue or lack of motivation? Is it difficulty focusing or feelings of guilt? It is anxiety or excessive worry? Or is it any combination of these negative emotions?
Just watched an awesome TED Talk by Seth Godin. It really got me thinking about how we can spread our ideas. What can we do to spread our ideas about bottle schools, hugs, and taking care of the world? We all know its an important message; turns out we just need to tell our friends because you are listening. As always thank you for supporting Hug It Forward! Spread the love change the world and check out this TED Talk!
Just read a pretty cool article from Good.Is. (We love those guys!) It is about a vending machine that allows you to trade or donate things instead of buying them. It is currently in a few locations across New York. Is swapping the new buying? Check out the video and read the full article.
If you are reading this blog chances are you are interested in transitioning and changing some or all aspects of your life. As you have likely noticed, there are chapters to your life. Each new chapter should bring a fresh perspective, a higher awareness, a sense of knowing, and a more secure and comfortable view of life. Sometimes it seems we move backwards in chapters, but really this less than desirable chapter was a necessary learning experience to propel you forward on your journey. The more chapters you go through the higher levels of awareness, happiness, peace, and success you achieve. The gateways between chapters are what is referred to as transition and change. Transition and change take you upward, onward, outward, inward, whatever direction growth goes. Click here to continue reading How to Create Change
Passion is what gives you direction, purpose, and meaning in life. Passion is what inspires and motivates you. Passion is what defines your life’s journey and your experience within it. In the bigger picture, passion is what moves and evolves the world. Passion can be defined in two ways. In one aspect a passion is something that you love to do. In another aspect a passion is something you feel very strong about (perhaps a problem you are compelled to solve). Continue reading How to Discover Your Passion
An elementary school is doing something interesting with bottle caps. I wonder what the students do with the rest of the bottle? Reycle them I hope! Check out the video and see their creations.
Really enjoyed listening to this story from NPR; listen to it here. Its always nice to do good and kind things for people you know; when a stranger offers kindness it refuels my belief in the human spirit. What random act of kindness have you encountered recently?
Forwarded to us from Sherry Miller one of our most treasured mentors. Thank you for sending along positive energy.
A Brave and Startling Truth
By Maya Angelou (1928 – )
We, this people, on a small and lonely planet
Traveling through casual space
Past aloof stars, across the way of indifferent suns
To a destination where all signs tell us
It is possible and imperative that we learn
A brave and startling truth

It is often hard to recognize, and even harder to admit, but everyone wants to be an important person. We all want to be noticed, to be heard, to be respected, and to be liked. In the pursuit of importance and recognition we are usually blind to what we are really looking for. Think of all the times, or one specific time, when you went out of your way to get noticed, to get approval, to belong, or to fit in. Whether you are insecure or confident, or whether you are aware of your intentions or not, at the core of many human behaviors is the need to be important. Just read an excerpt from the book “The Information Diet” by Clay A. Johnson on NPR. If you have a chance please read it! How do you manage the abundance of information available to you? Putting this book on my list of to reads. Have you read it, or heard about it?
Just read an article on GoodIs about buying happiness. We have a feeling it really might be the next big thing. If you want to live a happier life doing things is probably more full filling than buying things. We like that there are some numbers to start backing that up! If you are looking to “buy” and experience join us for a Bottle School Voluntourim Trip (p.s. it’s actually a priceless experience).
We found this post through Google Reader on MSN Photo Blog. It’s always impressive to see people making something with what they have. Even Bottle Homes.
